About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and technically skilled Lead AV Design Consultant to work on prime and super-prime residential projects. This is a client-facing, technical sales and consultancy role, focusing on the design and specification of world-class smart home automation systems.
Projects range from high-end single dwellings to luxury multi-dwelling schemes, offering exposure to some of the most innovative and prestigious AV/IT solutions in the market.
You’ll take the lead in preparing proposals, producing technical documentation aligned with the RIBA Plan of Works, creating quotations, and managing tender bids. You will guide clients through the design journey, hand projects over to delivery teams, and attend final site visits and handover meetings.
This position also offers excellent sales commission potential, with extremely high conversion rates from consultancy to closed projects.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a lead consultant, specifying smart home automation systems for luxury residential projects.
Prepare and present RIBA stage 2–4 design documentation, proposals, and quotations.
Produce technically accurate Bills of Materials and tender return bids.
Carry out demonstrations and client tours of Experience Centres.
Value engineer specifications for the best balance of performance and cost.
Oversee in-house design team contributions to technical documentation.
Provide coordination feedback to professional design teams.
Convert consultancy projects and tenders into successful closed sales.
Report monthly project progress and sales results to senior management.
Deliver CPD presentations to architects and interior designers.
Stay current with smart home technologies via training, supplier visits, and trade shows.
Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years’ experience in ultra-prime residential AV in roles such as engineer, programmer, project manager, designer, or technical sales.
In-depth knowledge of leading smart home control systems (e.g., Crestron, Control4, Lutron, Savant, KNX).
Strong expertise in AV, cinema design, HVAC, CCTV, door entry, and networking (Cisco/Meraki/Ruckus).
Excellent technical literacy and attention to detail.
Confident in client-facing consultancy and design team leadership.
Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office 365, Adobe Creative Suite.
Commercially aware with strong accuracy and solution-focused mindset.
Full UK driving licence required.
Desirable:
Degree-level education.
Industry certifications (CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I, CEDIA).
Project management qualifications (Prince2, Agile).
Programming experience and 3D rendering skills.
Existing client and industry contacts.
